Last week was spent in Dumfries and Galloway; not somewhere I've been to before, but I did know that there are many lovely gardens and nurseries round about. The cottage was lovely - though no mains electricity or anything; the windmill and the rayburn were wonderful and kept us warm and cosy and well fed all week long.
Because the rain always stopped for us as we left the cottage, the gardens and nurseries were a joy to visit - too many to talk about them all, but a couple yielded some plants I've been looking for and others that I didn't know I needed.
I didn't find one of these stunning Alstromeria to buy, but I'll definitely be looking out for it.
Of course, this only explains the last week; before that? Well, there have been lots of things going on - family visiting from Australia, gardening etc. But really? Just very preoccupied with what's coming up this week: another major op but one which I hope is just as successful as the last and will mean being fully mobile again.
Wish me luck.

How wonderful that you should leave a comment Sue - because I often thought about you and your lovely aga last week! Theres something very healing about the country life and hopefully that will come with me through the next week or so.

Dear Pam,
You seem to have a wonderful visit, the pictures are beautiful. We also had great Midsummer-weekend, it rains now but last two days were sunny and pretty. I am wishing you all the best for the operation, and quick healing afterwards. And sunny and beautiful days, too!
Yours,
Mia

Well it was an experience! Especially as the windmill wasnt great so often there was no power. But hey, it was good fun and very relaxing.

Sorry that I have not been around for a bit Pam. Hope that all went well with your op and that you are making a good recovery. Dumfries and Galloway is an area I'd like to visit - I have bought some lovely plants from Elizabeth McGregor over the years. She has a nursery in Kirkudbright. Wonder where you got to. Hope that you are taking some time out relaxing and enjoying your garden. Take care.

How lovely to hear from you Anna! We didnt get to Kirkcudbright - saving that for our next visit. It was so lovely to be able to visit so many great nurseries and gardens in such a small area. Definitely worth a visit!
